STANFIELD started with the desire to want great things and for others to be able to own something that they too, could value as theirs. I'm a craftsman at heart. I love the maker's life. Whether it's building a new table or piecing together a new bag, I find great joy in creating something from scratch. Being a maker allows me the flexibility to experiment with new designs and different ways of manufacturing. Besides, I'm very hands-on and a terrible perfectionist. I also believe in living a simple life. It's not about how much of something you can own - it's quality over quantity. It's about buying only a few well-made pieces that will last for years and that I love to use. This not only reduces waste from the amount of mass-produced products being made (which will inevitably end up being tossed out a few months later because of poor quality), but I'm much happier when my life's not cluttered with stuff that I never use because I don't fully enjoy it.
Handmade is a process and the result of skill and craftsmanship that is absent in the world of large-scale manufacturing.
Buying somethings that's handmade means that you are dealing directly with the artist (that's me!). You know where the item comes from, the story behind it and how it's made. It means that someone has sat down and put real human thought into making that product for you, and that makes it all the more special. It may be one of 100 identical items, but every little detail and step has been carefully thought out to produce the very best product.
